Not to brag, but our latest backyard transformation in Northeast Dallas-Southlake is as innovatively beautiful as it is functional.
Originally, this Forney family had limited options when it came to enjoying their outdoors.
A simple concrete pad stretched from one center left extremity to the right, barely enough room to house a gas outdoor grill and some chairs.
BUILDING ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR OUTDOOR LIVING LUXURY
The finest Forney TX patio and covered patio improvements start with Archadeck.
For this one, we retained the width of the formerly confined space and breathed room into it by going further outdoors into the backyard. What was formerly a small covered patio area was enlarged by extending the covered area with a gable roofed structure.
We also extended the open air patio area for more functional space allowing for both sheltered and open outdoor living enjoyment.
The beautiful roof extension features the open gable end with its structurally sound “chicken foot” beam and truss details.
Aesthetically enhanced with beautifully beefy posts, this outdoor living extension was trimmed to match the home’s exterior in tan, allowing it to look like it was there all the time.
For the extended outdoor living space foundation, we created a stain and stamp patio using the Ashlar Slate Stamp Pattern with a platinum stain with charcoal release.
Ashlar stamp patterns are signified by their square and rectangular stones of varying sizes arranged in an interlocking pattern.
This beautifully intricate yet varied stain and stamp patio pattern has been commonly found in traditional masonry paving and walls throughout history. This popularity has carried it through to the stamped concrete revolution.
Similar to a brick pattern layout, Ashlar patterns are off-set row by row by half the paver's width.
LETTING MORE NATURAL LIGHT IN FOR GREATER FUNCTIONALITY AND RESOURCEFULNESS
The former outdoor area was dark and void of any sunlight penetration, so we changed out the two windows that were inside that area and replaced them with a French door to access the new patio outdoor living area.
The French door trim was also painted to match the existing home
Hardie Board ceiling finish in the interior of the covered patio portion.
Hardie Board siding is a super durable siding product that looks amazing, is long-lasting, and comes with a strong warranty.
It's made of cement, sand, and cellulose fibers which combine to create an outstanding material to both protect and beautify homes.
For the finale, the crowning touch of this outdoor living redesign was the addition of two oscillating ceiling fans for greater comfort when needed on those hot and steamy Texas days and nights. And for better nighttime visibility, recessed can lights completed the renovation.
