Have you ever just looked at an image of an exterior (or interior) living space on the TV or internet, or in a magazine and just instantly feel refreshed? This deck outdoor living space addition in Westerville, OH, by Archadeck of Columbus is exactly that kind of project!
When these homeowners contacted us for their complimentary design evaluation, their backyard space was little more than an elevated stoop used to access the backyard. There was no space for furnishings, function or fun. We knew upon meeting with the clients they had specific goals in place that the new outdoor living space would have to achieve. These were #1 – enough room to lay out in the sun when they felt the urge and #2 – a place, and space enough, to integrate their hot tub comfortably.
Never fear! Archadeck of Columbus was able to not only meet these goals but exceed them, in one breathtaking backyard deck design!
Once we confirmed the new proposed backyard transformation through our Archadeck design process, we got to work making their vision come to life. The new deck addition was built using low-maintenance TimberTech decking in Ashwood from their Pro Legacy Collection. This decking will ensure any gray skies will turn to blue as this decking requires very little maintenance on the part of the homeowners. Four-sided capping makes it extremely resistant to moisture damage, and its protective surface resists everyday stains and scratches. These qualities make this decking board perfect for use around pools, docks and water features (like a hot tub)!
The bi-level design provides plenty of room for soaking up the sun, outdoor entertaining and relaxing in the hot tub.
To keep the design clean and sleek, we used white aluminum railing with glass infill panels. The glass infills convey the same feel as that of an endless pool — with unobstructed views that go on for days…
The deck skirting gives the space our Archadeck trademark always been there appeal because we used James Hardie fiber cement siding (HardiePlank) to that used on the home. When we integrated the homeowner’s hot tub into the deck design, we built a separate deck below the deck with double skirting to make access to the hot tub control panel easy and hidden from view.
Not only does the bi-level design add valuable outdoor living real estate to this home, but it also made the perfect catalyst for utilizing the area under the deck as well.
The expertly selected and places outdoor furnishings selected by the homeowner to use in their new outdoor oasis add to the allure of the new deck. Stunning washed wicker with turquoise accents and a tabletop fire pit grace the space — bright, cheery and inviting!
