The original builder of this sprawling home in Garland did an amazing job on the residence but regrettably treated the backyard as an afterthought. As you can see in the Before photo, the home originally had a small builder-grade covered patio on the back of the house, with only a tiny extension of the house’s roof to cover that area.

So, once the interior of the home was settled, the family contacted Archadeck of Northeast Dallas-Southlake to explore ways of how to better utilize their new backyard. So, “grow” it, we did.
As the premier Garland TX patio builder, Archadeck started thee outdoor living space expansion by extending the existing patio area by more than three times its original size using a stain and stamp pattern in traditional flagstone. To compliment the earth tone hues of the home’s exterior, the patio stain colors are a blend of terra cotta, pecan tan and dark walnut.
To provide shade and protection for the family and outdoor visitors, this Garland TX pergola builder constructed a large cedar pergola. The purlins at the top of the structure are closer together than in typical pergola fashion to provide that shade and protection. The area below the pergola is home to a brand new hot tub which is being installed by the homeowners, proof positive the Garland TX outdoor living combinations start with masterful design and creative thinking with Archadeck.
To expand outdoor living area options, we also built a shed roof detached covered cabana toward the rear of the backyard – a great space for daytime summer picnics and alfresco dining.
The ceiling is constructed from Hardie board and is painted pure white providing an open and airy feel. Lighting and a ceiling fan are also included in this design providing illumination and more comfortable air flow when needed. The pavilion is trimmed out in chocolate brown and we also constructed a large cedar privacy screen to provide comfortable seclusion while the family enjoys their newly renovated backyard space!
When facing the rear of the home in the backyard, to the right of the pavilion we constructed a stunning custom fire feature. This wood-burning fire pit is built from Oklahoma chopped stone, and a gray luedersstone top, along with two stain and stamp pathways that match the patio floor of the covered patio/pergola area just off the back of the house. To add visual interest and greater functionality to this area, we used black crushed rock around the fire pit to finish it off.
