Our most recent porch addition in Dallas proves that good things can come in small packages!

Some years back, there was an advertisement for a well-known chocolate company that touted about the way their “bite sized” chocolates packed a big punch of flavor. Without risk of naming the candy or company by name, if you lived in North America in the past 35+ years you are sure to know who and what we are referring to. Well, our most recent covered porch/patio addition in Dallas is a lot like that. Though small in stature, it packs a powerful punch in terms of charm and enjoyment!

dallas covered patio

When this Dallas homeowner contacted Archadeck of Northeast Dallas-Southlake, she had a wooden deck which offered no cover, no protection and most of all no shade. The goal was to add a charming protected area in the deck’s stead, making it the perfect place to read and relax among Mother Nature.

Existing wooden deck before Archadeck of Northeast Dallas-Southlake began the project.

We started the project by removing the old wooden deck and hauling it away – gone – out of sight and out of mind! We then installed a concrete patio with a brushed finish. From the patio, Archadeck added a covered porch with a gable roof. The roof style and the components we used in the porch’s construction all emulate the elements used on the home. This ensures the new addition will have that “always been there appeal and originality” Archadeck designs are so well-known for.

The covered porch features a charming, open gable-end design with decorative truss details. These, along with the posts (which were also trimmed out), were painted white to blend with the trim on the home. We also installed gutters and downspouts to divert rain water off and away from the roof of the addition.

Within the porch, we installed a Hardie board interior ceiling along with recessed can lighting for evening ambiance and functionality.

The client is just elated with the project! The covered space allows for more quiet time outdoors without the worry of afternoon sun or a spring shower!

Remember that when it comes to outdoor living spaces, big is not always best. At Archadeck, we understand that not all outdoor living needs are the same. Homes, families, and communities come in many shapes and sizes, and so do our projects. Many variables dictate the size of each project, and we are here to serve your specific requirements, understanding that every project will not be large in scale. Just because a project is small does not mean that it doesn’t deserve the same planning, design, and attention to detail. We enjoy helping all Northeast Dallas-Southlake families build the outdoor living space of their dreams. Remember, we are your one stop shop for all things outdoor living.
