Check out this Waxhaw, NC backyard deck and patio transformation

Do you find yourself saying “I wish I would have done my outdoor project this summer” every year? These Waxhaw, NC homeowners were finally ready for a change! They were sick of maintaining their old wooden deck and decided it was time to get rid of it. The goal with their new space was to create a deck and patio combination project that was low-maintenance, uniform with their space, and multi-functional. The final design landed on a composite deck, paver patio, and special order fire table.

Deciding on decking material

These homeowners were done with the maintenance of wooden deck and wanted to design a low-maintenance solution. They wanted to avoid having to power wash, seal, or stain their deck and wanted a permanent color solution. They decided on using TimberTech decking which is a low-maintenance composite decking that doesn’t require any staining, power washing, or painting.

Deck Material:

  • TimberTech Composite Decking – Reserve Collection – Dark Roast
  • TimberTech Builder Rail – Classic Black
  • Timbertech Rail caps – Dark Roast
  • Lattice skirting

This deck is made up of TimberTech decking in the color Dark Roast which is from the TimberTech Reserve collection. It is a gorgeous rich brown color and it pairs beautifully with the TimberTech builder rails. These rails are made of composite material and capped with a composite deck board of your choice. As you can see these homeowners choose to use the black builder rail caped with a dark roast board to match the decking. The skirting is made of wood but the homeowners were able to find a matching stain to bring the look together.

Let’s add some pavers!

One huge benefit of adding a paver patio to your outdoor space is the option of a fire pit or fire table. These Waxhaw, NC homeowners knew that they wanted to add some sort of fire feature to their design. When designing a patio one feature that adds a lot of benefits is a seat wall. Seat walls are a great way to add extra seating or extra space to set down food/drinks.

Patio Details:

  • Low Country Gold Coast pavers
  • Retaining Wall/Seat wall: Colonial sandalwood

This paver patio was designed to fit with the flow of the house wall as well as the shape of their yard. They went with a rounded patio design to accentuate their special order fire table. The round features help to avoid harsh lines and help to blend the space with the deck. When choosing paver colors it’s important to consider the colors of your home, window trim, and other outdoor structure. This paver stone has multiple neutral tones which pair perfectly with the light siding of their home and allow the new deck color to pop.

Archadeck of Charlotte does build fire features but these homeowners had a more modern look in mind. They special ordered this PRISM Moderna IV model fire table from Hearth & Patio and it looks fabulous in their new space!

Enjoying your space when the sun goes down

One thing to consider when designing your outdoor space is whether or not you want built-in lighting. This is a great way to extend your summer nights and enjoy your space without having to purchase light fixtures to put in the ground. These low-voltage lights are built into the patio, providing just enough light to see your space and enjoy the night. The fire pit also adds a good amount of light to the space, making it a cozy spot to enjoy dark nights.

It’s time to take control of your outdoor living space and bring your ideas to life! These Waxhaw, NC homeowners don’t have to wish for their dream space anymore. Archadeck of Charlotte would be happy to work together on designing and building a space that fits all of your needs and desires.
