Columbia SC AZEK Deck Addition Offers Protection With Custom Porch Cover

When Archadeck of Central SC began this project, our goal was to add a new low-maintenance deck to this Columbia backyard. Like many homeowners, these clients wanted a deck that looked the part and would require little effort in the years ahead to keep it maintained.

The homeowners had reached out to us to remove and replace their aging wooden deck with an updated design. After looking over many of the synthetic decking materials we offer here at Archadeck, they decided on AZEK decking in the Harvest color. To make the new deck even easier to care for, the homeowners also chose the low-maintenance TimberTech Radiance Rail in black.

It is not uncommon for our clients to mix and match styles, colors and textures among our menu of low-maintenance composite and PVC decking lines. When it comes to selecting outdoor living building materials, premier deck builder, Archadeck, has the design experience to show you what choices will look great together. We also highlight choices that will look great with your home’s existing finishes. We often mix different synthetics together or combine wood and synthetics. When designing an outdoor living space addition, if you see materials you like and are unsure if they will “gel” well together, never be afraid to ask! Every question is important when it comes to giving our clients the ideal outdoor living area perfectly suited for their needs.

Once this project was underway, the homeowners decided that adding a cover to the new deck would make the area more functional and a better fit for their lifestyle. Archadeck of Central SC added what is called an addendum to the contract in order to facilitate the covered roof addition. The addendum is simply an “ad hoc” item added to the main contract outlining additional information and terms of the updated design.

The deck covering consists of a gable roof adding shade and protection from the elements. The interior of the porch cover features a charming exposed-rafter ceiling and a ceiling fan for added comfort on those warm central SC days.

The homeowners are elated with the finished project and are looking forward to many years of enjoyment in their new low-maintenance outdoor oasis!
