When It Is Time To Replace Your Wooden Deck, The Smart Money Is On TimberTech

The original deck in this Hoover, Alabama, backyard was a pressure treated wooden deck. When these homeowners contacted Archadeck, it was time to replace the deck. The existing had two large bays on either side, and was adorned with stone river rock going up the columns – which were now rotting.

Our Archadeck construction crew had to replace those, as well as all of the deck boards, in addition to the support posts which were also rotting. In short, this was a complete teardown. The only thing that could be salvaged were the stone river rocks which the homeowners will repurpose in their rear landscape and garden.

The Difference In Cost Between Pressure Treated Wood And Low Maintenance TimberTech Is Often Worth It In The Long Run

Carefree maintenance and durability are the biggest differences between TimberTech composite and pressure treated decking. In fact, they are the reasons that composite decking was invented and the most distinguishing difference between the two.

Though wood composite decking may seem like a relatively new invention, its origins date back further than you may think. The origin of wood plastic composite decking material can be attributed to Dino and Marco Terragni, two brothers from Milan who patented the material in 1960.

Three decades later, TimberTech took the inspiration behind that science and brought it to a whole new level. Inspired by the nuanced beauty of nature, TimberTech combines classically attractive, uniquely realistic wood looks with innovative technologies that reduce deforestation.

To this day, the TimberTech credo remains the same: “You deserve a better life outdoors. So we set out to bring you the best of the best.”

For those with a heart for the natural wood aesthetic, and for those wanting to spend more time enjoying their decks, not maintaining them, TimberTech is the perfect low maintenance outdoor living building solution.

Making A Bold Aesthetic Statement And Adding Character With TimberTech Pro Reserve Collection

With a variety of in-demand colors to choose from, our homeowners selected the color of Dark Roast for their low maintenance decking material.

Its richly vivid and elegant colorway reminiscent of reclaimed wood and low-gloss finish showcases a classic cathedral wood grain pattern on these resilient boards, in trend with today’s market.

To well define and protect the elevated deck structure, we installed AFCO all-aluminum rail with 4” posts. We also wrapped the columns with aluminum in the same black color for seamless continuity.

In the spirit of sustainability, we rehung their ceiling fan and installed an Inside Out deck drainage system so they could utilize the space underneath the deck for outdoor living as well. The bonus? Two exquisite outdoor living rooms in one build.

Although an under-deck drainage system adds a few more dollars to a deck construction project, homeowners feel it's worth the investment – especially after the first rainfall when construction is completed. They quickly realize the value of having a perfectly dry outdoor living space to enjoy during bad weather.
