Archadeck of Akron is Still Your Akron Wooden Deck Builder

Mom watching kids playing and showering

If you love the look and feel of wood, prefer a wooden deck and have the impression that composite decks are taking over the world of outdoor living structures, don’t despair. At Archadeck of Akron, we still build decks with wood. We are your Akron wood deck builder AND we are your Akron composite deck builder, because we also build decks with composite materials.

You are the customer. You will select the building materials for your outdoor living project. We will consult with you for your input at each step in the design process, which is when building materials are specified for your project. If you want wood, you will have wood. We know that no other material looks more like wood. Because wood is a natural material, it’s going to have natural character that manufactured decking boards will not. Pressure-treated pine is also less expensive than composite decking materials, and that is often part of its appeal. We won’t try to persuade you to select a more expensive material.

We have heard a homeowner or two question whether Archadeck still builds wood decks, and the answer is yes, we do! I imagine we always will. If you’re in a conversation with someone who raises that question, you have our permission to let them know.

Why You Should Choose a Wooden Deck from Archadeck over Another builder

We believe in building wooden decks with top-quality pressure-treated pine. We purchase our pressure-treated pine from specialty lumber suppliers, not from home improvement stores. We use a higher grade of wood that minimizes inconsistencies like knots and warping.

When we build your deck, we do it the “Archadeck way.” Specifically, that means Archadeck of Akron always builds above minimum code to present you with a high-quality deck that will not only meet, but exceed the industry standards. For example, we install our decking boards at an angle, giving your deck increased stability. We screw the wooden deck boards down and use screws on railings, too. While this method takes longer and is more labor-intensive, it provides a stronger connection and ensures a stronger structure.

All of our decks, wood and otherwise, are warrantied. Archadeck provides a five-year structural warranty and a one-year workmanship warranty. In addition, pressure-treated materials have a limited lifetime warranty.

Archadeck of Akron’s Secret for Minimizing Wooden Deck Maintenance

We wouldn’t be Akron’s wooden deck builder if we didn’t share this tip with you. Everyone knows wooden decks require annual maintenance and that without it, a wood deck will begin to deteriorate more quickly than a well-maintained deck. You just can’t get around that; however, here’s our tip: let us design your deck with an aluminum or vinyl railing system. The most time-consuming aspect of wooden deck maintenance is sanding and sealing the wooden railing and spindles (also called balusters and pickets). If you choose a railing system made with another material, your annual wood maintenance chores are suddenly not as daunting. Several manufacturers offer very attractive aluminum and vinyl railings and spindles in a range of colors. Metal railings are usually powder-coated for a stronger, more durable finish. When Archadeck of Akron designs your deck, we will show you a wide selection of railing systems that don’t require the maintenance that wood needs.

Archadeck Offers a More Affordable Alternative to Custom Wooden Deck Designs

Here’s another tip we want to share with you. We know Archadeck outdoor living projects—even wooden ones—can be more expensive than some other builders’ projects because we custom design each structure specifically for you. We do offer an alternative, however, that’s less expensive than our custom designs. Archadeck offers a series of deck designs called Archadeck Lifestyle Classics that are more affordable than custom designs. The architectural renderings for these decks are already pre-approved by the national Archadeck headquarters, reducing the turnaround time on these projects, too. These designs were created with affordability, flexibility and quality in mind, and the materials we use to build them can be tailored to your preferences. This is a win-win option if you’re choosing to build with wood. A more affordable design and a more affordable decking material give you the most affordable deck available from the highest-quality deck builder around.
