Archadeck of West Central & Southwest Ohio has won yet another award with this fabulous low-maintenance deck in Kettering OH. We’re so thrilled! About a year ago we announced that this TimberTech deck we designed and built was the winner of an Archadeck Design Excellence Award. Now, the project has won Archadeck’s National Grand Prize Design Excellence Award for 2020. There is only one Grand Prize each year! This award was announced at our annual meeting of Archadeck franchise owners last week.
One reason this award is such a big deal to us is because the voters are our peers within the Archadeck franchise system. Back in July, we were awarded a Design Excellence Award for this project in Archadeck’s 2nd Quarter 2020 Design Contest. After the end of the year, all of the year’s winners were eligible for the 2020 Grand Prize. We won!
The Story Behind the Awards: The Dream Backyard Makeover
We are pleased that our fellow Archadeck owners selected this Kettering, OH, deck as the Grand Prize winner for two specific reasons. First, because we love this project and we’re extremely proud to show it off. Second, because there’s a fabulous backstory to this unique deck project.
A few years ago, Archadeck held a contest called “Dream Backyard Makeover.” Homeowners around the country were invited to send in their contest entries. They were asked to describe why their backyard was the most deserving of a makeover. Yes, the prize truly was a dream backyard makeover. Each entry included a photo.
We took this contest to Archadeck’s Facebook fans! They voted for a winner and posted comments on Facebook about which entry was most deserving. Facebook fan votes, along with a panel of judges, selected the 3 contest winners awarded a Dream Backyard Makeover.
Because one of the contest winners was in our territory, we had the honor of designing and building one of these 3 dream backyard makeovers. And what a makeover it was! Looking at the Before and After photos, you can hardly recognize this home. Doesn’t the photo of this child playing in a barren backyard tug at your heartstrings?
We built an amazing one-of-a-kind deck for this family, which they absolutely loved. We used TimberTech and Azek products for the project. The decking is from the TimberTech Pro Legacy Collection in the Mocha color with Pecan accents. TimberTech was a sponsor of the Dream Backyard Makeover contest. They featured our prize-winning deck in a TV commercial, in their catalog and on their website.
