Can You Add a 3-Season Room to a Vintage Farmhouse?

Three-season room builder Archadeck of Fort Wayne is happy to tell you that the answer is YES, we can! Not only that, but we can turn a plain stoop into a fabulous front entry with a wraparound porch. All you have to do is ask!

Our clients in Columbia City, IN, wanted significant improvements to the front and back of their 120+-year-old farmhouse. Archadeck of Fort Wayne completed two major projects here. We added an inviting new front porch entry and a 3-season room at the back of the home.

Here are the before images before Archadeck of Fort Wayne began the project:

After purchasing this vintage farmhouse, the homeowners have been doing a lot of updating. With these two projects, you can tell they are making the home more beautiful and more comfortable at the same time. Before these projects, the only “outdoor living space” they had was their yard. What a transformation!

Front Porch Designer Archadeck of Fort Wayne

This all-new front porch is a show-stopper! We couldn’t be more pleased with it, and the homeowners feel the same way. We created an effective, open porch design that didn’t require relocating the front door. We just replaced the simple covered stoop with a glorious porch that stretches across the entire front of the home. Because the front door is set back from the front exterior wall of the house, we were able to create a wraparound porch. This wraparound effect lends tons of “farmhouse charm” to the home.

We were able to match siding for the front porch addition with the existing siding on the home. To finish out the project, we used AZEK porch trim and used TimberTech RadianceRail for the new railing that flanks the front steps.

Another priority for these homeowners was a place to sit outdoors, open to the fresh air but protected from pesky insects and rain showers. It’s true that Eze Breeze 3-season rooms had not been invented back when this house was built. We feel certain that if the original owners of the home could see this extremely-functional outdoor room, they would be envious.

Archadeck of Fort Wayne recommends Eze-Breeze three season rooms for homeowners who want a screened porch with the option of windows they can close. The clear vinyl window panels slide open easily to reveal screens when you want to enjoy a breeze. You can open as many as 75% of the window panels at one time for plenty of fresh air. When the weather is cooler, you can keep the windows closed to keep out the chill. The effect is much like that of a sunroom—and when you look at all of these windows, you can see what we mean! During the summer, the homeowners have the option of removing all of the window panels for maximum airflow.

Custom backyard three season room

Eze-Breeze windows are made with sturdy, high-quality aluminum window frames. If you think vinyl windows sound iffy, you haven’t seen Eze-Breeze windows! They are clear and clean with the visibility of glass. Eze-Breeze three-season room construction allows you to use your outdoor room more often throughout the year than you could use a traditional screened porch.

This custom-designed three-season room features T1-11 siding on the interior. The exterior siding matches that of the home. For exterior trim we used the same AZEK trim that we used on the front porch. The clients chose cedar for their interior trim.
