Q: I’ve just signed a contract with Archadeck of Birmingham. How long will it take to build my project?

It depends on the size and complexity of your project, the weather, and the workload of your local office. Normally, projects can be turned around faster in the fall and winter (as opposed to the spring, which is our busiest season). Your local office should be able to give you an approximate start and finish date, subject to weather conditions and materials availability.

Q:Is Archadeck of Birmingham insured?

Yes, all Archadeck locations carry at least one million dollars of general liability insurance, and their carpentry crews are covered by worker’s compensation insurance.

Q: Can I get an exact price before I decide to hire Archadeck?

Definitely. First a representative will reach out to you to schedule a virtual meeting to learn more about the project you have in mind. Then we schedule a time to meet with you for an initial consultation, where we’ll discuss your needs, personal preferences, and budget. Q: What type of warranty do you offer?

We offer two separate warranties: 1) Our own warranty provides you with protection against defects in materials and workmanship for 12 months; defects in structural fitness for 60 months; and passes through all manufacturer warranties (the most frequent being the lifetime warranty provided by treated wood manufacturers). 2) A third-party guarantee backs our warranty. This guarantee is made by The National Guarantee Corporation and assures your work is completed as specified and provides 2-year warranty coverage.

Q: Do you have a written contract that I will sign?

Yes. We supply you with a detailed contract to protect you from any misunderstandings.

Q: Do you sell your designs or plans so I can build it myself?

No, all our work is custom designed, so we don’t sell our plans.

Q: How many designs do I have to choose from?

Our work is customized to your exact needs, so your design options are virtually endless. If all that design freedom overwhelms you, we can help you choose a design that fits your needs, budget, and home’s architecture.

Q: Does Archadeck of Birmingham do repair work or small jobs?

While we would love to work with you, we are usually not the most cost-effective choice for smaller jobs or repair work. Consider this analogy, which is something most homeowners can relate to: You don’t hire a doctor to put on a band-aid. We offer very competitive pricing for our typical-sized and larger jobs, but on smaller jobs we are not going to be your most competitive solution. There are times when what you truly need is a handyman or contractor who specializes in small home repair projects. As a high-quality deck and porch builder – and yes, we also build sunrooms, outdoor living combinations, outdoor fire features, etc. – we know that we cannot be all things to all people. Q: How much is my project going to cost?

One of the most common questions we get from homeowners is “how much will it be?” Archadeck of Birmingham understands most homeowners want some idea of what they are getting into before getting too involved with the process, which is a reasonable request. The main thing to remember is, in most cases, the bottom-line number for your quote usually comes in lower once we have input all the relevant information. Many factors come into play when putting together an accurate quote for a custom outdoor living space including materials, elevation, and the size of your space just to name a few. When discussing project costs, part of choosing the right builder for your outdoor living space is knowing the builder has your best interests in mind. Q: Do I need a permit to build my outdoor living structure?

Most construction projects require permitting. It does vary from county to county in our area. We will certainly obtain the proper permits as required by law. If you forgo the permitting process, you could be fined, your homeowners’ insurance may be compromised, and you may be unable to sell your house until permitting requirements are satisfied. Furthermore, if you have unresolvable issues with your contractor, you may be unable to receive help from the courts because you chose to proceed without the legally required permits. If you choose to acquire the permits yourself, then you are acting as the contractor and whoever is doing the work for you is considered an employee. This can be a big problem if have an issue with the quality of the construction or there is an accident.
