What can we say when a potential new client sees one of our award-winning designs and asks us to replicate it for them? Of course, we said Yes! We can still promise that no two projects Archadeck of Austin designs and builds are just alike. What we know is that even if we start out with similar specs, each client requests customizations to suit their specific needs. Our projects are always unique.
For a reference point, see this Archadeck national design excellence award winning project! The award-winning detached covered porch in Davenport Ranch in West Austin is a sight to behold. It’s the ultimate covered porch for outdoor entertaining with plenty of space and creature comforts throughout. The roofed structure ensures these homeowners can enjoy the outdoors day and night, rain or shine.
Davenport Ranch award-winning project that served as the inspiration for this client’s project.
Our recent clients in Georgetown, TX, saw photos of this project and knew it was exactly what they wanted. They contacted Archadeck of Austin to ask if we could build the same structure for them at their home on the San Gabriel River. So, how much alike are these two projects, and how much are they different?
A Covered Patio With the Amenities You Need For Legendary Outdoor Entertaining
Like our Davenport Ranch project, this covered patio has a “big as all outdoors” aesthetic given the sheer size of the space and its components. From the inside, the lofty tongue and groove ceiling and open rafters – all made of Western Red Cedar – set the tone. The generously-sized white limestone outdoor fireplace, flanked with compartments for wood storage, commands attention. From the outside, the white limestone hardscapes – the chimney, pedestals and low walls – are just as commanding. The tall cedar posts and standing seam metal roof emphasize that this structure offers protection even while the protected space remains open and airy.
Inside, the Georgetown pavilion has a couple of additional features. (We told you it would be unique.) The white limestone structure at the far end opposite the fireplace is an outdoor kitchen area serving as a bar for entertaining. We used smooth Lueders stone to top all of the counters. To satisfy the guests’ every need, the bar is equipped with two integrated coolers, two refrigerators and a trash can. There is even a section of bar seating on the outer edge of the bar area. All it lacks now are barstools.
Returning to the outdoor fireplace, notice the intimate seating area we created with stone benches on either side of the hearth. All surfaces – the hearth, the benches, the backs of the benches, and the ledges along the backs – are made of smooth Lueders stone. The backs of the benches are slanted slightly for comfort, emulating the slant of the back of a pew. The space offers the homeowners plenty of ways to incorporate their own decorative touches starting perhaps with colorful cushions for these custom-made stone benches.
Creature comforts are abundant here, including ceiling fans and plenty of lighting. In addition to the light fixtures you see overhead and on posts, we installed low-voltage lights along countertops and integrated throughout on pedestals, etc. To get electricity down to the pavilion, we ran 600 ft. of trench from the clients’ home.
Any Riverfront Pavilion Needs a Deck!
On the San Gabriel River, this covered patio is close enough to the riverbank for a deck to bridge the distance from patio to waterfront. For the deck surface, our clients chose AZEK decking in Weathered Teak with a border and parting board of English Walnut. We also used AZEK decking for the deck band, and we built the deck skirting with cedar. The custom walkway down to the river is flagstone. The deck and walkway railings are iron, all custom made and powder coated. We incorporated low-voltage perimeter lights around the deck.
So, you see, at Archadeck of Austin we can fashion your outdoor living project after another one you especially like – and still make it uniquely yours.
