The need for this new screened porch was not just about location. Archadeck of Birmingham replaced these homeowners’ private master bedroom deck, which played double duty as their carport cover. It was also essential that they gained a more usable space, which was achieved by building a new screened porch, rather than simply replacing the old deck with a new one. This screened porch will give the resident reading enthusiast a protected area, away from mosquitoes and other insects, which kept her from being able to read outdoors before.

This porch design features a metal shed roof to match the existing roof. The porch extends six feet from the home and is extra-wide at 24 feet across with large screened openings, offering extensive views from within. The porch interior features TimberTech PRO Terrain composite decking in Brown Oak, keeping a natural wood look throughout the space. The ceiling features a wood finish with open rafter design – very rustic chic! To keep this second-story porch exclusive and totally private, we did not build exterior stairs, which could be accessed from outside the home.
