Outdoor Living Perfection Continues 11 Years Later With This Two Story Combination Oasis

In 2011, Archadeck of Austin had the privilege of custom designing and building a two-story combination outdoor living space.before

The first project we completed for these amazing clients.

The original construction was for an upper roof-covered deck supported by magnificent limestone pillars. Below, we installed a stunning limestone paver patio, offering two distinct outdoor living areas for both levels of this Round Rock home.

Outdoor Living Client Loyalty Grows As We Expand And Enhance Our Original Custom Design

To increase the amount of livable square footage in their backyard, we added another “outdoor room” to the right of the original structure. Extending from the right of the initial space, the family now enjoys yet another element of outdoor living luxury with this pergola covered outdoor patio.

Fresh air is circulated at will via large ceiling fans underneath the pergola beam structure.

At the farthermost right side, stunning chopped white and nicotine limestone was the natural stone used as the stacked stone component for the wood burning fireplace. It provides warmth when needed for the chilly evenings while casting the sparkling glow of orange and yellow embers.

Peripheral lighting is accomplished via outdoor lighting that casts soft illumination from both the top and bottom of the fixtures.

Safety step lighting is also apparent within the patio foundation itself, as well as in the four steps that lead to the new space from the rear lawn, to avoid missteps after the sun sets for the day.

The open air space also accommodates an oversized seven burner gas barbecue grill with generously convenient storage areas below.

Poolside Perfection With A Custom Designed Pergola Covered Patio

An important part of this outdoor living upgrade extension was to provide short access from the inground swimming pool to the new patio. Now shaded comfort, augmented by fresh air, is literally a few brief steps from the pool’s stepped entrance.

For privacy while enjoying the patio from the pool area, horizontal cedar skirting screen was installed atop the fireplace’s limestone partial wall just below the pergola roof. It’s open slat design further allows consistent fresh air flow to provide natural outdoor comfort from the summer sun.

To beautifully define and accent the periphery of this new outdoor living extension, we installed curved planter areas where lush greenery now lives with several varietals of perennials.

A Cedar Pergola With A Polygal Cover Completes This Outdoor Living Oasis

In addition to using weather-resistant cedar for the privacy wall, it was also used for the above pergola itself. To shade the new area when permitting the transfer of natural daylight into the space, a Polygal cover rests atop the cedar pergola’s top layer.

Polygal is the preferred alternative to glass for most outdoor living designs. With proper care, this extruded acrylic and polycarbonate Polygal roof cover can last and protect for years to come.

With the goal of achieving a Mediterranean look in the final design, the floor was raised three feet because of the dramatic slope so the patio is level and yet only four steps down to the backyard green space.
