The Leading Composite Deck Builder in the Raleigh-Durham Area

New strides in quality and durability over the past decade have led composite decking to become the preferred material among homeowners looking to improve their outdoor spaces. Archadeck of Raleigh-Durham is the deck builder of choice when considering a composite or low maintenance deck in the Greater Triangle area. In our more than 30 years of service, we have stayed at the forefront of trends in composite materials and methods of building, and have even worked closely with the top manufacturers to help develop new products and preferred installation methods. We look forward to sharing our experience as well as our commitment to exceptional customer service when we design and build the perfect composite deck for your home, property, and lifestyle.

What is Composite Decking?

Also called synthetic decking or low-maintenance decking, the term “composite decking” refers to a group of decking options that are man-made and typically comprised of wood fibers, recycled plastics, and various resins. There are numerous types and styles of composite decking available; however, the vast majority fall into one of two different categories: Cellular PVC or Capped Composite.

Cellular PVC decking is made entirely from cellular PVC, which is an extremely durable and dense plastic material. PVC decking generally boasts the greatest resistance to scratching and fading and is most often accompanied by the longest warranty coverage.

Capped composite (also referred to as Capstock) is different from Cellular PVC in that it is not solid PVC; it is manufactured with a composite core wrapped in a cellular PVC shell. The PVC gives it the durability of fully synthetic decking while using a more cost-effective recycled interior. Given its structure, capped composite decking is typically more affordable than the solid PVC products, while still offering the same excellent scratch and fade protections.

TimberTech and AZEK are our preferred manufacturers for composite decking. Beautiful color options, compelling 25 and 30-year warranties, and a long history of client satisfaction with Timbertech and AZEK’s high-quality products are just a few of the reasons why we recommend them. Timbertech was previously known for their capped composite quality and AZEK was more known for their fully synthetic decking line, but the two are now under the same ownership, which makes for a perfect partnership in creating the best composite deck material available.
