The clients Dartmouth property slopes steeply to the beautiful Morris Lake below. We worked with the home owners to create a multi-level, multipurpose outdoor living space. In order to make the space usable, we created a new stone retaining wall and staircase leading to the lower deck and dock below.
This unique thousand square foot design incorporates a large dining area and outdoor kitchen, a spacious sitting area with a gas fire pit and hot tub area. The wide stairways are lit with a custom LED lighting system for evening use. The low maintenance TimberTech Terrain decking is boarded with black composite rail and fences were placed on each side to ensure the homeowners dog had an enclosed space to play.
Below the main decking area, the new retaining wall and stone staircase lead to another 300 foot entertaining space and integrates with the existing floating dock.
This project won the 2016 Archadeck Design Excellence Award, beating out over 50 competitors from across the Canada and the United States. We also received a Nova Scotia Homebuilders Association Peak Award for Most Outstanding Residential Renovation for One Room.
