Spacious Northwest Winston Salem Deck, Patio, and Pergola

You would be surprised at the number of calls we receive from homeowners who have an existing deck that is just too small. Many home builders include a deck when they initially build a house, however, it is generally a simple, square rudimentary-designed outdoor space that offers little function, especially for homeowners with growing families.

This is exactly the circumstance these Northwest Winston Salem, NC, homeowners found themselves in when they contacted us. What they had was a small, tired deck just off the back door of their home. The space lacked personality, and function. Archadeck of the Piedmont Triad got to work immediately to change the space into a new and improved space which would deliver plenty of versatility and fun.

Our plan consisted of expanding the existing deck space and fanning it out into the spacious, beautifully wooded backyard. We also included a polycarbonate pergola with decorative ogee ends, which serves as a charming shade structure. With an ample amount of room, the new deck provides space for grilling, entertaining and so much more. The unique shape of the wooden deck and the wide flared stairs spill into a stunning curvilinear stain and stamp concrete patio, which adds even more beauty and function to this backyard.

Deck and pergola combination
The area under the new shade pergola mimics the feel and function of a covered porch, and even includes a ceiling fan for added comfort.

We used pressure treated wood to build the deck which compliments the hardscape patio perfectly and adds a rustic touch to the entire outdoor space. Many of our customers choose synthetic decking materials. Synthetic is a wonderful decking material but the price can sometimes be prohibitive. Natural wood adds a warmth and natural flair to your outdoor space like nothing else can. Wood changes and weathers, which is quite nice in any setting. No matter what you have in mind, nothing can top the real thing when it comes to choosing wood for your outdoor structure.

This photo depicts the area before we began the project. As you can see the existing deck was small and lackluster.
