Archadeck Outdoor Living Spaces are the Cat's Meow

Outdoor living structures can be designed with special needs in mind, and to provide specific functions just like the interior rooms of our homes. We love helping you create a space that addresses your individual needs and those of your beloved family members.

Your individual circumstances may require an outdoor space that is designed specifically for handicapped capabilities, or special features that are geared toward heightened safety for families with small children. One common request here in the Triad area “pet friendly” outdoor spaces.

Our pets are an important part of our lives, and our lifestyle. That lifestyle includes being able to enjoy outdoor spaces with our pets by our side. Archadeck of the Piedmont Triad specializes in creating custom outdoor structures to suit the needs of you and your pet. Gated decks are a big draw among dog owners. Adding a gate to your deck can give you the freedom to enable your dog to get in on the fun of using your outdoor space without worry. Sliding gates are not only functional they are also aesthetically pleasing. They can make the perfect place to partition your pet but still provide the freedom of the great outdoors. Pet gates use the same creativity and safety features as an interior baby gate would, except on a grander scale.

Pet friendly 3 and 4 season roomsDecks aren’t the only outdoor spaces that can be amended to better accommodate your furry friends. Adding a knee wall or railings are common requests for screened porches. While a screen below your porch handrail may provide visibility, it may also provide a clawing wall for your cat or a challenge for your dog eying a squirrel. Choosing pet friendly materials for your outdoor space will also give you a space that is easy to clean in the event of an accident. For this reason ceramic tile is a nice option for many 3 and 4 season rooms. Composite is the best choice for decks among pet owners. Convenient soap and water cleanup saves time and reduces the dangers of possible stains caused by your pampered pet.

Pet ownership statistics from The Humane Society of the United States for 2011-2012 reflect the importance of a pet being part of our family. Here in the US there are 78.2 million dogs owned as pets. Nearly 40% of US households own one or more dogs. Companions of the feline sort are tallied at a whopping 86.4 million cats owned by Americans. It’s no wonder then that many of our customers ask us for features that benefit their pets.

Cat enclosureDesign inclusions to make your outdoor space pet friendly are just one part of the many possibilities available to giving your pet a little fresh air and sunshine. Archadeck of the Piedmont Triad can design a personalized space solely for your pet. Here you see a kitty corral we built for one of our customers. The space is reminiscent of a screened room but it equipped with tiered exercise steps and custom built shelves for the felines to cat nap in the sunshine while still in the safety of the screened enclosure. These pampered pets can have an outdoor play date without the worries of outside influences that could put them at risk. This space is a testament to the way we view our pets as members of our families and the great lengths we will go to on behalf of their contentment.
