This beautiful home just outside Halifax has a fantastic view of Purcell’s Cove. The homeowners wanted additional outdoor space that would create a welcoming front entrance and also be able to enjoy the stunning views of the ocean. We worked closely with them to create a design that would incorporate their needs as well as tie in to the homes’ existing deck and landscape.

We wanted to minimize any clunky railing systems so that the great views would not be interrupted. Incorporating built-in benches and planters let us avoid using railings all together, while creating an interesting design detail. The benches provide plenty of seating for guests, planters allow for a pop of seasonal colour and help soften the pressure-treated wood decking angles. The wide, open stairs create a simple, low-profile and make a welcoming entrance.

This new wrap-around deck joins the existing back patio and allows for almost 360 degree views of their beautiful property. Now these homeowners are able to choose a side and pick a spot in full sun or a cool shady area for their afternoon nap.
