An open patio set the scene for this custom 3-season room design

When these Oak Ridge homeowners contacted us they had a large existing concrete patio that was partially encased with brick piers. The patio no longer suited their particular needs. As their lifestyle had evolved they wanted to enclose a portion of the patio turning it into a screened porch to have a protected outdoor space where their children could play. The project ended up resulting in an outdoor enclosure with a flat roof because of their difficult roof tie-in situation. The homeowners also decided to use an Eze-Breeze window system to enable the family extended use of the space.

By choosing to use an Eze Breeze window system in lieu of a traditional screen for this outdoor room, the homeowners turned their intended screened porch upgrade into a versatile three-season room! Upgrading your screened porch to a three-season room requires the addition of windows. You can convert your screened porch by adding a sliding window such as a vinyl sliding panel system. This system works by allowing you to control the amount of screen you leave exposed – from the half screen and half sliding panel to closing the panels completely and creating a room with the “feel” of a sunroom without the extra installations required in having a sunroom. With a versatile enclosure system such as this paired with a space heater, you can make use of the screened porch up until late fall and early winter amidst our mild NC climate.

In order to facilitate this addition, we also kept the existing brick piers and extended them up the roof. This resulted in an outdoor room that is unique and full of character. For the interior of the space, we installed a flat ceiling with a charming beadboard and clear stain. This interior finish promotes the simplistic, clean look the homeowners were looking for.
