Porches in Carmel
A Porch Designed Around Your Home
We design each porch around how you want to relax, gather, and spend time outdoors. At Archadeck of Northern Indianapolis, we provide porch construction and design services for Carmel homeowners, from new covered spaces to screened upgrades for existing structures.
We’re locally owned and operated, with the support of the Archadeck national brand. Archadeck Outdoor Living brings more than 40 years of experience and over 135,000 completed structures to that support. Our residential services in Carmel also include decks, patios, screened porches, and sunrooms.

Choose the Right Porch Enclosure
The right project path depends on how much enclosure you want and whether you’re starting with an existing structure. We offer custom porches and screened porches, including retrofits that turn an existing porch into a fully screened-in space.
Porch options can include:
- Open porches: These covered outdoor areas retain unrestricted airflow and an open connection to the surrounding yard.
- Screened porches: Screen barriers separate the space from insects while preserving the feel of an outdoor setting.
- Porch retrofits: We can add screens to an existing porch and incorporate confirmed upgrades such as windows, ceiling fans, and lighting fixtures.
- Sunrooms: As a related project path, these enclosed additions create a more direct connection between the home and its outdoor area.
Porch design also lets us consider how the new space relates to your home’s architecture and intended use. During planning, we discuss the enclosure and features that best match your priorities.
Outdoor Building Materials for Carmel Porches
Material selection affects a porch’s appearance, maintenance needs, and long-term durability. Moisture exposure, temperature changes, and regular use all need to be considered when choosing materials for an outdoor structure.
We use premium materials and maintain national relationships with preferred material vendors, including AZEK and TimberTech. Those relationships give us product options that can be matched to your design. We’ll also account for any material and color provisions contained in the HOA covenants governing your property.
Our Carmel Porch Planning & Construction Process
Before construction, we create a clear design and account for the requirements that apply to the property. Our designers and porch contractors are trained, licensed, and certified in their applicable areas, and we follow a structured Job Process Methodology on every build.
Our process addresses the following project stages:
- Complimentary consultation: We discuss your goals and design priorities with no obligation to build.
- Custom design: We develop the porch around your home, preferred project path, and selected features.
- Permit planning: We manage local permits and ordinance compliance as part of the project.
- HOA review: We discuss applicable covenants, including requirements for materials, colors, and setbacks. A setback is the required distance between a structure and a property line or other designated boundary.
- Construction: Our team completes the approved design according to the project plan.
Carmel generally requires an Improvement Location Permit before the construction, alteration, repair, or addition of a structure unless the work is expressly excused by law. The Department of Community Services reviews Improvement Location Permit applications against the 2020 Indiana Residential Code. HOA approval is separate and depends on the covenants governing the individual neighborhood or property.
A porch project typically takes about three to eight weeks from the consultation through the final touches. The exact schedule varies by project, so we review timing in the context of the design, permit requirements, and applicable HOA covenants.
Warranty Coverage for Your Porch
Every build includes two forms of coverage for our completed work. Our one-year workmanship warranty addresses construction quality, while our five-year structural integrity warranty covers the stability of the completed structure.
Material coverage is separate from our workmanship and structural warranties. Manufacturer warranties apply to defects in covered materials according to each manufacturer’s terms. We can explain how these forms of coverage relate to the materials and structure planned for your project.
Plan a Porch That Fits Your Priorities
A complimentary design consultation is a chance to discuss your preferred porch style, enclosure, features, materials, and property requirements. We then outline a design direction and the planning steps relevant to your Carmel home.
There’s no obligation to build after the consultation. The contact form provides space to share a few details about your plans.
