At Archadeck of Kansas City, our top priority is to design an outdoor living space that amply accommodates each client’s outdoor living requirements. When it comes to creating usable screened porch designs, most clients express a desire for an outdoor TV. TVs take outdoor living to an all-new level – perfect for family movie nights, game day parties, or anything in between.
Even though many of our screened porch designs include outdoor fireplaces, where TVs are often mounted, you don’t have to have a fireplace to have a TV on your porch. If you are considering a new screened porch design for your Kansas City area home, but do not have the budget for adding a fireplace, Archadeck of Kansas City can add a TV wall to your porch design. Alternately, if you would like an outdoor fireplace, but wish to mount your TV at eye level, we can designate another area for mounting your TV.

When considering a TV wall, placement is key. Of course, you would like for your TV to be as protected from the elements as possible, but you must also consider your furniture arrangement for placement of your TV. Another consideration in placement of your TV wall is your porch’s orientation to neighboring yards or sidewalks. TV walls make fantastic privacy walls! Archadeck of Kansas City will help you choose the best placement for your TV wall. Your porch TV wall will be finished, just like an interior wall would be, so that electrical and Internet wiring can be properly installed behind it.

You might choose a flat wall mount, as seen above, or perhaps a corner TV mount better fulfills your porch’s design requirements.
Adjustable corner TV mounts will allow mobility to reduce screen glare
If you would like to incorporate stone into your screened porch design, even without a fireplace, we could create a stacked stone TV wall. And though many of our screened porch TV walls have specialty finishes, such as tongue and groove cedar, you can choose a simpler wall finish. The TV wall below was finished with the look of an interior wall, and painted to match the home’s exterior siding.

The shape of your screened porch will also help determine proper placement of your TV wall. The Overland Park screened porch below features a long, narrow shape. So that we did not interrupt the view on any of the three open sides of this screened porch, these homeowners decided to place their TV wall closest to the home. Tucked close to the home, this TV wall is also ultimately protected from the elements, with screened openings only on one side.
When it comes to creating your ideal screened porch, consider all the things you would like to use your porch for. If you love the idea of taking in a movie, sporting event, or concert event on your porch with family and friends, a custom TV wall will help you achieve those goals. Even though it is not necessary to buy an outdoor TV, having a TV outdoors is especially useful in creating a flexible living space that the whole family can benefit from. Extending the way you live inside your home to your porch is becoming less of a novelty and more of a requirement for our clients. Even if an outdoor fireplace is not in you budget or plans for a new screened porch, we highly recommend adding a TV wall.
