Our valued deck clients in San Antonio and the Hill Country have embraced a new and improved way of living outdoors thanks to Archadeck San Antonio Hill Country. They are choosing to express their individuality by choosing deck designs that are uniquely different than anything else that you typically find here.
When meeting with our new deck clients we ask questions to give us guidance as to what kind of deck would serve their long-term needs best. As your trusted local deck builders, we start a conversation to get deep insights as to how our deck contractors in San Antonio can best serve the family.

The series of probing questions typically goes something like this:
- Do you want a straightforward geometric shape on one plane or a deck intentionally designed with different levels to indicate special zones?
- What about an area for built-in seating? Is that something that would be valuable for you and your guests?
- How about an outdoor kitchen, so complete that making trips back inside the house would become unnecessary?
- For evenings when the temperature dips, how about a fire feature – possibly a fire pit or a fireplace?
- When entertaining family and guests, would you enjoy a designated dining area? And how many people would you like to accommodate?
- And on those days when the sun is intense, would you like having the option of an overhead covered area or a shade structure? If so, how about a custom pergola for both intermittent shade while adding an interesting architectural accent to your backyard?
In short, as the expert local deck builders, we leave no proverbial stone unturned to ensure that our clients would have the project of their dreams.
Turning Deck Dreams Into Reality With Custom Unique Designs
Not so long ago, most deck plans and layouts were conventional. So Archadeck set out to change that.
Most deck designs back in the day were pretty much a straight deck pattern, creating a timeless, classic look. Today, as lifestyle influences evolved, spurred on by home improvement design magazines and television, we increased our repertoire with suggestions for variety.

• Perpendicular board patterns that were just that, running perpendicular to the rear of the home, instead of parallel, giving the deck a wider look.
• Some enjoyed the suggestion of a Diagonal pattern where our deck boards are installed at a 45 degree angle.
• Speaking of diagonal, our Herringbone installations use a unique architectural zig zag pattern to create visual interest and depth.
• Another now classic approach is our Picture Frame pattern where deck boards are literally surrounded by a frame around the deck.

• For even greater visual interest, some clients choose our Chevron board pattern, similar to Herringbone, but with angled cuts that meet in a “V” shape.
• When clients want to visually indicate distinct areas for different uses and levels, some prefer a multi-pattern Zoned layout design.
Thanks to innovative thinking and creativity, Archadeck of San Antonio Hill Country can produce dramatic outdoor living structures, raising the bar one home at a time.
What Choice Of Deck Materials Do You Recommend?
Just as there is no one design solution for your custom deck installation, the same is true when it comes to building materials. Now you have three choices.
1. Classic Wood Decks: Fashioned from pressure-treated pine lumber, many clients love the look, feel and aroma of the real thing. Structurally very sound and at a lower installation cost, this traditional choice will require occasional sealing and staining over time to retain its appearance.

2. TimberTech Composite Decking: An exceptional eco-friendly choice, this decking will last for many years and always look just like new after a garden hose rinsing. Deliberately manufactured to exacting standards right here in America, it is made from recycled and virgin polymers and organic wood particles. But honestly, you would never know that it wasn’t really wood as the textures and grains are stunningly lifelike. With its protective end caps that resist moisture penetration, it carries a 25 or 30 year Fade & Stain Limited Warranty. There are seven collections to choose from, offering a wealth of aesthetic choices including:
• The Legacy Collection with a hand-scraped finish
• The Reserve Collection for that reclaimed wood look
• The Terrain Collection with a pronounced Cathedral grain
• The Terrain+ Collection featuring a subtlety understated wood grain
• The Premier+ Collection in Natural Oak with a straight-grained hardwood finish
• The Prime Collection for an opaque stained or painted wood look
• The Prime+ Collection similar to the above but featuring more saturated colors of Sea Salt Gray, Coconut Husk and Dark Cocoa

3. AZEK PVC Decking: Manufactured in a similar fashion, there are no wood filaments in AZEK PVC Decking. It is made from 100% polymer particle with no organic material at all. With two collections to choose from, this is premium decking royalty, famous for high performance and timeless design. Another advantage considering Global Warming, the Vintage and Landmark Collections are thoughtfully engineered for resilience against fire risks, severe weather, and intense moisture exposure. The Vintage Collection strongly resembles the rich look of the most premium hardwoods in a choice of six stunning colors. WUI Compliant, ignition resistant and carrying a Class A Flame Spead Rating, it’s a terrific choice for many areas. Similar in features and characteristics, the Landmark Collection features subtle board-to-board variation in four luxurious colors. Now for the best news of all. Both Collections carry a 50 Year Stain & Fade Warranty and a Limited Lifetime Product Warranty.

What’s The Real Difference Between A Deck And A Patio?
That’s a great question. Decks are typically elevated above ground allowing better airflow for comfort and are connected to the home. Patios are composed of solid hard materials and are ground level.

Keep in mind, that many of our happy clients have paired a deck with a patio, porch, or other type of structure for the ultimate in outdoor living enjoyment, too!
If you dream it, we can design and build it.
