Many of our clients were not satisfied with the builder-grade concrete pad outside their Greater San Antonio home, so they called us at 210-702-3223.
During their complimentary design consultation this homeowner asked us, “Can you turn this stump into something stupendous?” “Absolutely,” we replied.
Retaining their existing patio cover, we added a spacious low-maintenance rear deck with built-in seating adjacent to the back of the home.
The minimalist design accents the clean architectural lines of this Hill Country home, which you access via the two-stair incline from the rear landscape.
To avoid occasional maintenance and ensure the longevity of the new deck, we used TimberTech Composite Deck building materials, which resist rot and mildew. The polymer capped surfaces of TimberTech are engineered to keep moisture out and retain its resistance to bugs, insects and absorption of residual rainfall.
Below the deck surface, we added crushed stone to add contrast to the deck design, which also facilitated the absorption of water into the ground.

Another example of what’s possible is how our team replaced a simple walkout concrete pad to lay the foundation for a multi-functional outdoor living room.
Easily accessed from the left rear of the home, once outdoors, there is a convenient door and floor-to-ceiling window leading to the new space.
The gable roof design allows for the ceiling interior to feature rich wood beams. Continuing the wood aesthetic from the top down is a TV shadow wall which conveniently blocks the sun as needed when sunset approaches and adds tremendous privacy to the space.
A comfortable outdoor three-seat loveseat faces the wooden wall for optimum viewing of weekend sports and evening movie time.
To the far right, the family frequently enjoys outdoor dining and after mealtime, it’s prime time for board games like Clue and Monopoly.

This stairway to the covered shade structure combines the sustainable choice of TimberTech decking with a black powder coated aluminum rail and natural wooden lattice.
The ascending lattice design is both beautiful and functional as it keeps wandering neighborhood pets from finding a resting place while outdoors.
The lattice covered staircase area, out of view at the far right, opens to reveal a handy year-round storage area for outdoor tools and accessories.
At ground level, crushed stone highlights the staircase access while the flagstone garden area highlights the shrubbery texture and adds color to the landscape.
