Is a Pergola a Patio Cover?
A patio cover can be a roof, but it can also be a pergola. Pergolas can be built with louvers or solid covers but typically allow at least some sunlight to flow through. Pergolas can be used in place of a porch roof, patio roof, or even a pavilion. Additionally, pergolas can be used for shade on a deck.
Often, it is believed that pergolas are less expensive to build than roofs, but depending on the materials, size, and intricacy of the design, a pergola can be a sizable investment.
