Can you help me decide what type of outdoor living structure makes the most sense for my home and budget?
Yes, and this is one of our favorite parts of the process. We provide a comprehensive design-to-build experience and maintain a local showroom where we stock our many product lines. You can see and feel how the elements of your project would look together before construction begins. It takes a lot of the guesswork out of material selection.
Do you offer free design consultations?
We do. Archadeck of Central Iowa is locally owned and operated, backed by a national network of expertise. Our design consultations are complementary, because it gives us a chance to understand your goals and give you a clear sense of what we can do for you.
Can I get an exact price before I decide to hire Archadeck?
Yes, definitely. During your initial consultation, we'll discuss your needs, preferences, and budget. After that complimentary meeting, should you decide to move forward, before you commit, you'll have real numbers to work with.
How much is my project going to cost?
This is probably our most common question, and it's a fair one. We understand that you want an idea of what you're getting into before diving deep into the process. Every project is different, which is why we prioritize understanding the exact project you have in mind to provide you an accurate quote.
Do you offer financing or payment plans?
We do. We offer a buy and build program and additional details can be found on our website.
How much expertise does Archadeck of Central Iowa have?
We've been building outdoor living spaces in Central Iowa since 1998. That's over 25 years of working within local building codes, understanding how local weather affects different materials, and refining our design and construction processes. How many designs do I have to choose from?
Our work is customized to your exact needs, so your options are essentially unlimited. If that much freedom feels overwhelming, we gladly create deck designs that can be easily modified to fit your space. This is a good starting point that we can adjust together.
Do you sell your designs or plans so I can build it myself?
No. All of our work is custom designed for specific homes and sites, so we don't sell plans separately.
Can I see examples of similar projects you've completed in my area?

I've just signed a contract with Archadeck. How long will it take to build my project?
The exact amount of time it will take to build your project will depend on size, complexity, weather, and our current workload. As a general rule, projects move faster in fall and winter compared to spring, which is our busiest season. Once you've signed on, we'll give you approximate start and completion dates, subject to weather and materials availability.
Do I need a permit to build my outdoor living structure?
Most construction projects require permits, and requirements vary based on where you build in Central Iowa. Skipping permits might seem simpler, but it can lead to fines, compromised homeowners insurance, and complications if you sell your home. This is why we’re always sure to handle the permitting process as part of our service.
Are you insured?
Yes. Local Archadeck locations carry at least one million dollars in general liability insurance, and our carpentry crews are covered by workers' compensation insurance.
What type of warranty do you offer?
We offer several warranties. Our own warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for 12 months, defects in structural fitness for 60 months, and includes all manufacturer warranties (most commonly the lifetime warranty from treated wood manufacturers). Additionally, a third-party guarantee from The National Guarantee Corporation backs our warranty, ensuring your work is completed as specified with 2-year warranty coverage.
Do you have a written contract that I will sign?
Yes. We provide a detailed contract that protects both parties and eliminates misunderstandings about scope, timeline, and cost.
What types of projects does Archadeck of Central Iowa build?
We specialize in custom-built decks (both wood and low-maintenance composite), porches including screened, open, covered, and three- and four-season varieties, patios and custom hardscapes, shade structures such as pergolas, sunrooms, outdoor fire features, and outdoor living combinations that bring multiple elements together.

Does Archadeck of Central Iowa do repair work or small jobs?
While we'd love to work with every homeowner who reaches out, we're usually not the most cost-effective choice for small repairs or minor projects. Our pricing is competitive for full builds and larger jobs, but for smaller work, a handyman or repair specialist will likely serve you better.
