There have been a few times over the years in our various digital spaces where we’ve put on our “Archadeck Realty” hat and promoted homes for sale by our clients whom we’ve learned are “moving on” through their life’s journeys. We’ve had two such situations presented to us recently. So we’re taking this opportunity to “promote” one of these here and now. The other one, our clients are preparing for a fall sale so we’ll do a separate “promotion” for them in a few weeks.
Both of these cases highlight the long-term value and integrity of Archadeck outdoor living spaces. Mary Jo and Ken Smith, who’s projects are featured here, have enjoyed their Archadeck porch addition on their home in Clive since we designed and built it in 2015. The other case, is an Urbandale screen porch project – including a wood-burning, stone fireplace – built in 2011. Those clients told me that porch has been the reason they stayed in their home as long as they have; more on that project later.
The Smith’s porch project was built over their existing deck – in a unique, corner location to the house – to provide afternoon and evening shade that was lost when a mature tree was removed. Sensitivity to the home’s architecture and sight lines from both inside and outside the house were of great importance to the design…and I think we did it perfectly! This project was featured in a February / March 2017 edition of the local Welcome Home Des Moines magazine in a piece entitled “Porch Perfect.” We’ll let that feature tell the story; you can view it by clicking that link.
Note the plural sense of the Smith’s “projects” noted above. They enjoyed their porch so much they had us back in 2021 to further enhance their deck with a multi-level pergola addition.
Mary Jo and Ken’s home is beautiful, inside and outside, and we are proud to be a part of the “outside” aspect of that. Its also been a pleasure to get to know them a bit over the years, having done several projects in their neighborhood both before and after their projects. We thank them for their support and patronage and wish them well in their life ahead.
