As we look back on it, we are so proud to be premier Hoover AL screened porch builder, who just designed and handcrafted this family outdoor deck turned oasis. If we didn’t know better, we would swear it belongs in a fancy tree top resort in some exotic location – not that Hoover isn’t exotic – (wink, wink).
It all started in this heavily treed backyard located in the beautiful Sandpiper neighborhood. Originally, the family asked Archadeck Outdoor Living to improve the 20-year old deck that had become a mainstay of their outdoor living leisure time. But alas, the aged structure would not be able to tolerate the improvements this client was looking for so it had to come down.

After their free, no-obligation Archadeck design consultation, the members of the family each gave us their wish list once it was determined that our master deck and porch builder team had to start from scratch.
One of the requests included a spacious side deck that would facilitate the family’s grill equipment and tranquil hammock.
Another request was easy access to the driveway and garage area below.
Aside from the spacious deck and sweeping staircase, the family also asked us to incorporate a spacious screened porch as they wanted to spend as much time out there as they possibly on those humid Alabama afternoons and at peak mosquito-bitin’ times.
OUTDOOR LIVING IN TUNE WITH THE HARMONIES OF NATURE
When it came to the building material selection, the choice hands down was pressure treated wood with aluminum balusters. These materials enhance visual accent, functionality and strength of this outdoor living combination space.
Making this private outdoor living area as accessible as possible, we included two doors – one opening into the adjacent side deck and the other gracefully descending down to the stairway for convenient driveway and garage access.
Added creature comforts include a tongue and groove ceiling with built-in can lights for illumination after the sun sets and an overhead oscillating fan to facilitate those cool breezes that frequent the area.
