Decorating a Patio for Ease and Comfort

The Home & Garden section of The Washington Post hosts designers weekly to address decoration problems in and out of houses. Paul Corrie, of Bethesda, Maryland, was featured in the section to help a family out with their patio.

Judith Schomer and her family have a 24 by 15 foot oval patio, desperately in need of new ideas for furniture and garden placement. The couple enjoys eating outdoors and entertaining on their patio. Since they’re no longer in their prime, they want furniture that is easy to move and durable.

So how did Paul solve the problem? He used:

-A durable, teak seating area to promote conversation

-Curved benches for more seating options

-Accessories such as lighting, sculptures, and serving pieces to add appeal
